How many times do we feel frustrated in the classroom? We teach the same thing over and over again and our learners just don’t get it! Why aren’t they learning? It’s humbling to remember that just because I taught it, doesn’t mean that they have learnt it! In fact, they may have learnt from my lesson, but, not what I intended for them to learn!
Remember: learners construct their own understanding based on their existing knowledge. If they cannot connect new knowledge to their existing knowledge, then they cannot make sense of that new knowledge and if they cannot make sense of it, they cannot demonstrate it or use it.
